Tanglewood is west of Merivale Road, north of West Hunt Club Road with a recreational pathway on its northern order. Hillsdale is similarly located, but accessed via Woodroffe. Merivale Gardens is south of Hunt Club Road, and -despite its name - is accessed off Woodroffe Avenue.
The Tanglewood area has about 5,000 residents, and is 74% unilingual English, and 24% bilingual.
Most (70%) of the dwellings in Tanglewood were constructed in the period between 1971 and 1985. Another 13% were built between 1986 and 1990, 11% were built between 1961 and 1970, while only 3% were built between 1991 and 1995.
By 2006, Tanglewood had 1,900 dwellings; 22% of these were single detached, 22% are semi-detached, 45% are row houses, less than 1% are apartment duplexes, 6.1% were apartments with more than 5 stories, and 4.5% were apartments less than 5 stories. The great majority 71% owned, while 29% of residents rented their homes.
There are no schools in these neighbourhoods. Stendents attend either across Woodroffe, or on the northern side of the railway tracks.
Shoppers City West is just north on Woodroffe (at Baseline), and there is the Merivale shopping corridor to the northeast of these neighbourhoods.
The Nepean Sportsplex is on Woodroffe Avenue (just south of Hunt Club) with an indoor pool, ice arena, and racquet sports facilities. There is also the Merivale Centennial Arena nearby on Merivale Rd, and a running track beside Merivale High School. There is also a YMCA/YWCA with a variety of sports facilities on Colonnade Rd, off Merivale. Not far away is the Black Rapids Lock on the Rideau Canal
