Ottawa River Power Dam This 4,000 resident community is nestled in the woodlands of the Upper Ottawa Valley, just north of Chalk River. The town has sandy beaches on the River, and over 200 km of cross-country ski trails and gliderport.

In 1686, Chevalier de Royes named the 70 km stretch of the Ottawa River riviere creuse, which was translated a century later as Deep River. The River is over 75 metres deep at its deepest point a few km downriver from the town. This town was created in 1944 as a residence for thoe families of scientists and staff at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories.

The Canadian Clock Museum opened to the public in Deep River, Ontario in late May of 2000 as Canada's only clock museum. This non-profit, private museum operates as a federal corporation dedicated to preserving and promoting the products and history of Canada's many clock manufacturers and sellers from the early 1800s to current times. The initial collection of more than six hundred clocks, and more than two hundred old watchmakers' and clockmakers' tools, as well as a reference library.

From early June to early September, Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday afternoons 1 to 4 p.m. From early September to late May, open Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other hours by appointment
