Transportation: Buses

Central Voyageur-Greyhound Bus Depot on Catherine Street If you are travelling as a group, or if you are traveling alone, taking the bus makes a lot of sense. Ottawa has several bus-friendly transportation options for the traveller.

To catch a major inter-city bus, you need to go to the Central Bus Depot, on Catherine Street. Its south of the downtown and close to the Queensway, and definitely not a walk if you have luggage! Voyageur Colonial (613-238-6668) is the major bus company to points east, west and south. Ottawa is the major connecting point for its buses to southern Ontario (Toronto), eastern Canada (Montreal, Halifax), northern Ontario (Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay), and Western Canada (Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver). In Sudbury, the buses connect to Greyhound (1 800 661 8747) for Western Canada. Voyageur drops you off in Toronto at either Scarboro Town Centre, in the east, and downtown, where the main terminal is not far from airport connectors. You can also connect to many cities in the United States in Montreal and Toronto, via Greyhound.

If you need to get into town from the airport, shuttle buses are offered by both the Airporter Hotel Shuttle Bus (613-260-2359). The Shuttle bus departs the airport (from the Level 1 curb outside the terminal in the arrivals area )every ½ hour daily @ 5 minutes after the hour and 35 minutes to the hour (First departure from he Novatel Hotel downtown at 5:00 a.m, and firstfromthe airport at 5:35 am, with the last departure for the last flight at 12:05 a.m.) . It only costs is $12.00 one-way (with discounts for people travelling as a group) and $20.00 return. If you are staying at an area hotel, your front desk clerk can arrange a timely pickup to return to the airport.

The cheapest way into town from the airport is the #97 OC Transpo bus, which continues north into downtown and then west along the Transitway to Bayshore Shopping Centre. Cash Fares (exact change only) are $3.00 adults, children (6-11) $1.50. You can get tickets at the Ground Transportation Kiosk at Arrivals for 0.95 cents/ticket, though you need to get two tickets per adult, one per child.
