Orleans -Chapel Hill South neighbourhood in Ottawa-Gatineau Neighbourhoods
Orleans-Chapel Hill South is south of Innes Road and surrounded by parkland on three sides: Mer Bleue to the east and Greenbelt to the south and west. Directly to the east is the Orleans Industrial Park, which is a light industrial area.
As of the 2006 census, Orleans-Chapel Hill South has about 6,000 residents, 37% of whom are unilingual English, 5% are unilingual French, and 57% are bilingual.
Only 4% of homes in Orleans-Chapel Hill South pre-date 1960, 9% were built 1961 to 1980, 10% built 1981 - 1990, with most (62%) built 1991 -2000, and another 12% built after 2001. the neighbvourhood's 2,000 dwellings are 84% single family, 3% semi-detached, 10% row houses, 1% apartment duplexes, and under 1% were low-rise apartments less than 5 stories. In this neighbourhood, 6% of residents rent, while the majority (94%) own their homes.
Three is lots of big box shopping along Innes Road.
The community has a number of large parks and creeks running through it, and is close to the running track at Garnenau High School. Its also close the Orleans Arena & Community Centre (just across Innnes rd), which also has an indoor swimming pool.
