Carson Grove / Carson Meadows enighbourhood in Ottawa-Gatineau
Carson Grove-Carson Meadows is an east-end neighbourhood located between Montreal Road and Ogilvie Road, east of the Aviation parkway, and wrapped around CFB Rockliffe (no longer an active military base, now home to the National Aviation & Aeronautical Museum), the Montfort Hospital, and the National Research Council lands along Blair Road. Carson Grove is considered a mature neighbourhood that is mainly residential.
The area has convenient access into downtown, to the Queensway, and recreational parklands. Montfort Hospital is nearby, and features ample green space and park access. The St. Laurent Centre is a quick trip away, as are many of, further north. Several school, churches, and restaurants are all within reach. For everything beyond, OC Transpo has several routes that service the neighbourhood.
Carson Grove-Carson Meadows is a relatively new neighbourhood, with 7% of homes pre-dating 1960, 14% built 1961 -1970, 31% constructed 1971 - 1980, 13% built 1981 - 1995, and 31% of homes built after 1996.
Carson Grove-Carson Meadows' 3,300 homes were comprised 30% single family, 5% are semi-detached, 29% row houses, 31% high-rise apartments (over 5 stories), and 3% low-rise apartments. Over a third (38%) of residents rent and 62% own their own homes.
A public elementary school is in the south end of the neighbourhood, and the Catholic schools are nearby, and the community is home to Samuel Genest High School, and La Cite College.
Great access to unique shops and restaurants in Vanier, just to the west, big box stores at Gloucester Center & Shoppers City East to the south, and St Laurent Shopping Centre to the west.
Carson Grove-Carson Meadows has an indoor arena, an outdoor pool, a running track, as well as the National Aviation Museum at the old Rockliffe Airport.
